Gothenburg, Sweden

November 27-30, 2008 Hello European Christmas Markets!!! Terri and I went to Gothenburg, Sweden for Thanksgiving. Don't worry, we didn't miss traditional Thanksgiving feasting -- we had a huge employee Thanksgiving dinner Wednesday night and we were served turkey sandwiches on our Lufthansa flight on Thursday (how appropriate, huh?). Since Gothenburg is on the water, the city was actually warmer than Garmisch. Had it been colder, it would have snowed...it rained everyday for a little bit each afternoon. Some highlights of our trip: we saw Mary Poppins at the Opera House, we went to the Christmas Market at Liesberg (Amusement Park), we went to the Botanical Gardens, we ate Meatballs, Sushi, and some fabulous pastries! All in all it was a great trip! One of the best trips! I'm so excited for Christmas now, not that I wasn't excited before but I enjoy the fact that Europe still takes the time to enjoy the ambiance of the holiday -- hot drinks, fires, mingling, and roasted chestnuts on the street, stand after stand of homemade Christmas gifts, ice skaters dancing to Christmas music, etc. Yes, it's going to be a great holiday season! more pictures
